Spread of ‘New Malaysia’ agenda on social media worrying, says Bukit Aman

Attempts by some irresponsible parties to introduce new agendas, such as New Malaysia, may trigger racial tensions, said Bukit Aman Special Branch director Zamri Yahya.

He said the irresponsible parties were not only using conventional methods to spread their message but they also took advantage of social media.

“The current trend of abusing social media is very worrying, especially in spreading fake news which can cause misunderstanding.

“People are getting confused due to misinformation, which in turn threatens the country’s harmony,” he said during a talk on the “National Security Landscape: Facing Current & Future Challenges” at the 2022 National Security Conference, here.
