Bestinet Sdn Bhd expressed confidence that the company and its staff will be cleared of any allegations made against the firm over the recruitment of migrant workers.

PETALING JAYA:
Bestinet Sdn Bhd has denied claims that its founder, Amin Abdul Nor, was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) amid the anti-graft agency’s probe into the IT company.

This follows a viral message on WhatsApp that the firm’s CEO, chief technology officer and Amin had been arrested by the authorities.

In a statement shared with FMT, the company maintained that it was not in a position to comment on the ongoing investigations.

“Bestinet also wishes to place on record that the claims you have shared about Dato Sri Amin Abdul Nor are false and inaccurate,” it said.

It expressed confidence that the company and its staff will be cleared of any allegations made against the firm, saying it upheld very strict governance on business ethics and had zero tolerance towards corruption.

“As such, the company places high importance on accountability and transparency in the conduct of its business activity at all times and is fully committed to acting as a positive force in all markets it operates in.”

On July 6, Bestinet confirmed that the MACC had raided its office the day before and said it was fully cooperating with the authorities’ probe into alleged corruption and abuse of power over the selection of 25 Bangladeshi agencies for migrant worker recruitment.

Bestinet is the IT system provider for the recruitment of workers from all source countries.

A labour agency in Dhaka previously accused Bestinet’s founder of “persuading” the government to limit the number of agencies that supply labour to only 25.

Yesterday, the MACC arrested eight people, including the CEO of an IT company, for allegedly receiving bribes from employers and agents in relation to foreign worker recruitment.

Today, the graft buster arrested two more people, including the owner of an employment agency, over its ongoing probe.
