PETALING JAYA:
Thunderstorms and strong winds ripped through Kuala Lumpur this evening, bringing down trees and branches in over 40 areas in the city.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said the thunderstorm had started at about 4.30pm and by 7.30pm there were reports of fallen trees and branches in 47 localities.

Affected areas include Bukit Damansara, Segambut, Bukit Tunku, Bukit Nanas, Mont Kiara, Sentul, Kampung Datuk Keramat, Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Duta Kiara, Jalan Ipoh and Jalan Raja Laut.

“DBKL staff comprising emergency and rescue squads, alongside our counterparts from the fire and rescue department and civil defence, have gone to the ground to move the fallen trees and branches in the affected areas.”

DBKL added that traffic around the city was now under control with traffic wardens mobilised to ensure smoother traffic flow.
