The crowd cheered as Najib arrived. He waved from his car window and then alighted to meet his supporters.

Najib arrived at the courthouse flanked by a large entourage which included his children, Nooryana Najwa and Nizar.

A supporter, Amnah Habi Mat Pian, 60, said six buses had left from Pekan, Pahang, to show solidarity for Najib.

“We are from Felda Chini. We were willing to come here today because Najib has made a massive contribution to Pekan. We hope he will be set free,” she said.

Siti Normah Musa, 80, who had arrived from Cheras, said: “It will be sad if he’s sent to prison because in my opinion, he had led the administration well while he was the prime minister.”
