PUTRAJAYA:
PAS will be sticking with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the coming general election (GE15), reiterates the coalition’s chairman, Muhyiddin Yassin.

“PAS is still firmly committed to carrying on with PN. There is no issue about the party wanting to leave the coalition,” the Bersatu president said at a press conference.

He was responding to a question about his meeting with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and several other PN leaders last night.

Following the meeting, he said, they agreed to expedite seat negotiations among PN component parties. The coalition will also be embarking on a “Jelajah Prihatin” roadshow around the country soon.

The two-hour meeting was also attended by Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, vice-president Radzi Jidin and PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

Muhyiddin also brushed off PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan’s rejection of his labelling of Barisan Nasional being PN’s “main enemy” in GE15.

“Our (Bersatu and PAS) relationship is solid. Whatever statements issued by whoever, that’s up to them. Maybe they were instigated, God knows,” he said.

Takiyuddin had said the labelling of any Malay-Muslim grouping as “the main enemy” was inappropriate and unreasonable if that party was a consensus partner in a coalition government.

Muhyiddin also said there was no outcome or decision reached at a recent meeting between Hadi and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“That’s what Hadi informed me. There’s nothing to hide, nothing came out of their meeting,” he said.

He also said Hadi had hinted that PAS will make a final decision on cutting ties with Umno in the near future.
