Chuah assemblyman Michael Yek said he was elected on a PKR ticket and would not betray the party.
“As I was elected on a PKR ticket, I will remain with PKR,” Utusan Malaysia quoted him as saying.
He also squashed talk that he would be joining Sabah-based party Warisan.
Yek claimed he was in the dark about the identities of the two state assemblymen from Negeri Sembilan who would be joining Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM).
Yek was referring to yesterday’s announcement by PBM president Zuraida Kamaruddin, who said that two state assembly members from Negeri Sembilan would be joining the party. She did not reveal their names.
“I was not there. I was unaware of the statement. I do not know who she (Zuraida) was referring to,” Yek said.
Speculation has been rife about the identities of the two elected representatives ever since Zuraida’s announcement at PBM’s first general assembly at the Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam.
Zuraida, who was officially made PBM’s president last night, also disclosed that Edmund Santhara Kumar and Dr Xavier Jayakumar, both formerly MPs with PKR, had joined PBM.
She said the party now had six MPs in its ranks, five of whom had won their seats in the 2018 general election while with PKR and the other while with Warisan.
The six MPs are Zuraida (Ampang), Santhara (Segamat), Xavier (Kuala Langat), Steven Choong (Tebrau), Mohamaddin Ketapi (Lahad Datu) and Larry Sng (Julau).
