The wing’s chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the opposition party had previously accused the coalition of being power hungry for pushing for Parliament to be dissolved to make way for the polls.
“And now that Parliament has been dissolved, they accuse BN of coming up with a narrative that voting was a waste of time. Which is it?” he asked in a Facebook post tonight.
Yesterday, Liew claimed that BN had created such a narrative to dissuade voters, especially fence sitters, from taking part in the polls and thereby increasing its chances of winning.
The DAP deputy secretary-general said such a strategy was employed in the Sarawak, Johor and Melaka state polls. Pakatan Harapan (PH), he said, lost in those elections.
Last night, Johor BN chief Hasni Mohammad said it was a norm for PH and DAP to level allegations at Umno.
“I believe that if the rakyat does not want to come out to vote for DAP or PH, there is nothing Umno can do about it. It is their choice,” he said in a Facebook post.
