The Penang chief minister will be vying for the seat, which was held by Kashturi Patto for two terms. She recently announced she would not be contesting in the upcoming polls.
Chow will be moving from Tanjong, where he had served for four terms.
Lim Hui Ying, a senator, has been named DAP’s candidate for the Tanjong seat. The seat has been held by DAP since 1986, starting with her father, Lim Kit Siang, who served as the MP there for three terms.
Hui Ying said she was honoured to be given the opportunity to contest the Tanjong seat, which she described as “a DAP fort”.
Meanwhile, Seri Delima assemblyman Syerleena Abdul Rashid will be DAP’s candidate for the Bukit Bendera seat, which was formerly held by Wong Hon Wai.

After announcing the candidate for the Bukit Bendera seat, DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said Wong had been entrusted to “serve in Penang” but did not give any details on what that meant.
Syerleena told reporters she was looking forward to champion women and youth empowerment issues in the Dewan Rakyat.
She said the Bukit Bendera seat is not new for her, as she previously served as the Bukit Bendera DAP Youth secretary.
Meanwhile, RSN Rayer, Steven Sim, Ramkarpal Singh and party chairman Lim Guan Eng will be defending the Jelutong, Bukit Mertajam, Bukit Gelugor, and Bagan seats, respectively.
