Muda is working with Pakatan Harapan in GE15 and has announced four candidates so far.

PETALING JAYA:
Muda is expected to contest the Masjid Tanah parliamentary seat in Melaka in the upcoming general election (GE15), said a party source.

In confirming that the party would field a candidate for the seat, the source, who is a member of Muda’s central executive committee, declined to reveal the candidate’s name.

“It is enough for the public to know that the candidate is tough and will provide a good fight,” said the source when contacted by FMT.

The source said the decision to field a Muda member was arrived at after discussions with Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Meanwhile, sources in PKR, DAP and Amanah, which are part of PH, confirmed that they would not be fielding anyone for the Masjid Tanah seat.

Last week, Perikatan Nasional (PN) confirmed that Mas Ermieyati Samsudin of Bersatu would defend the seat in GE15.

Mas Ermieyati, who was deputy law minister in the previous government, won the Masjid Tanah parliamentary seat in GE14 with a 8,159-vote majority against PH’s Sabirin Ja’afar.

She also won the seat in GE13.

A former Puteri Umno chief, Mas Ermieyati left Umno in June 2018, a month after PH won GE14.
