PH open to forming govt with Sabah, Sarawak coalitions

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli says, however, that this will only be discussed in detail after GE15.

A coalition government must be a stable one that takes into account the interests of the peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak, says PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.
PETALING JAYA:
Pakatan Harapan is open to cooperating with the coalitions in Sabah and Sarawak to form the government after the next general election (GE15), said PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

However, he said, this would only be explored in detail after GE15.

In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, Rafizi also stressed that PH would not work with Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) if it failed to obtain a simple majority to form the government after the polls.

“We will join (in partnership) only with coalition parties from Sabah and Sarawak, not with PN or BN,” he insisted.

“A coalition government must be a stable one that takes into account the interests of the peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak. I am sure this is something the coalitions in Sabah and Sarawak are also considering.

“We cannot have a government which keeps on changing.”

Malaysia has had three governments in the four years since the 2018 general election which brought PH to power.

Rafizi also reminded all PH component party leaders not to enter negotiations about such cooperation just yet, stating that the run-up to the Nov 19 polls should be spent on strengthening support for PH.
