
He will be contesting as an independent candidate, though yesterday he said that he would be joining a coalition that was “in line with his political views”.
In announcing his withdrawal as PN’s candidate yesterday, Deepak said he opted against contesting for the coalition as his “courageous and no holds barred attacks against the corrupt kleptocrats” was not appreciated by the coalition.
He added that his stand was “more appreciated by true champions of democracy”.
Previously, Johor Gerakan chairman Teo Kok Chee reportedly said party president Dominic Lau had nominated another candidate to contest the Pulai seat on the PN ticket.
According to Teo, the decision to replace the candidate was made by PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin two days ago.
