At a press conference, Zahid said any statutory declarations signed by BN MPs before this were invalid.
He said a committee has been formed to hold talks with the relevant parties.
Zahid was joined by 26 other BN MPs at the press conference.
He said the Jelebu and Kuala Pilah MPs were not present as they were unwell, but did not elaborate on the others.
“BN members will follow the decision of the Supreme Council. Therefore any statement that BN has teamed up with another coalition is not true,” he said at a press conference at the Seri Pacific hotel here.
Zahid said BN MPs will submit their statutory declarations in support of a prime ministerial candidate to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker soon, adding that he hoped the deadline could be extended.
Yesterday, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun asked leaders of parties that won a “substantial” number of seats in the general election (GE15) to submit the names of parties and independents who have agreed to join forces to form the next federal government.
The respective leaders were also told to name an MP from their coalition to be Malaysia’s 10th prime minister through a statutory declaration.
Istana Negara has told party leaders and heads of coalitions to propose a prime ministerial candidate by 2pm today.
BN and Pakatan Harapan leaders met at the Seri Pacific hotel earlier today.
