KUALA LUMPUR:
Industry players have called for ministers to ensure the recovery of businesses is based on consistent, transparent and fair policies.

Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) president Soh Thian Lai said the focus must be on ensuring the highest level of integrity and efficient service delivery.

Bernama quoted him as saying FMM looked forward to a continuation of engagement with the government to steer Malaysia towards economic revival in spite of current global economic challenges.

He hoped the 2023 budget, expected to be re-tabled soon, would focus on improving the economic climate by increasing economic activities to generate revenue and create jobs.

Soh said the focus should be on lowering the cost of doing business, restoring the confidence of both foreign and domestic investors, strengthening the capital market and ensuring the stability of the ringgit.

“We also hope for the continued promotion of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

“We need this to build a pool of highly skilled workforce to support manufacturing transformation,” he said.

Soh, who is also president of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), hoped the new government would develop new business-friendly policies and offer new ideas to lead Malaysia towards stability and economic growth.
