According to local Malay daily Utusan Sarawak in a Facebook post, a photo of the newlyweds went viral after their solemnisation ceremony.
Wan Junaidi was widowed seven months ago after his wife Fiona Norjanah Sim Abdullah died at the age of 70.
According to Utusan Sarawak, Junaidi will be hosting a reception at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur this evening.
Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg is among the VIPs expected to attend the dinner, along with senior federal politicians.
Junaidi has three children from his earlier marriage. A retired police officer, he has been a seven-term MP since 1990.
He decided not to defend the Santubong parliamentary seat at last month’s general election saying he is giving way to younger leaders. In a recent interview with Astro Awani, he said he was enjoying “retirement”.
In his 32-year parliamentary career, he was a deputy speaker, deputy home minister, environment minister, and entrepreneur and cooperative development minister, before his last role as a law minister.
