PETALING JAYA:
Norazman Mahmud has been appointed as the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM)’s new CEO, effective Jan 1.

He succeeds Chester Voo, whose tenure ends on Dec 31.

CAAM said Norazman’s appointment was made following an extensive review conducted by members and recommendations made to transport minister Loke Siew Fook.

“Pursuant to Section 21 of Act 788, the transport minister has appointed Norazman Mahmud as the new CEO following the departure of Chester Voo,” it said in a statement.

Norazman has more than 30 years experience in the aviation industry, including being the flight operations director at Malaysia Airlines Berhad.

He is also the first pilot in Malaysia to be rated on the A350 aircraft.

“Norazman is currently the deputy CEO (Regulator) of CAAM and has been instrumental in the effective transformation of CAAM in the past two years,” CAAM said.

On Dec 14, it was reported that Voo had resigned from his post as CAAM’s CEO. Voo had expressed his desire to quit in October.
