Waiter dies after handling box of explosive placed on car

PETALING JAYA:
A 28-year-old waiter died in an explosion in Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur, last night.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak said the authorities were alerted to the incident at about 8.55pm.

He said the victim was believed to have found and handled a package on top of the hood of his car, believed to have been the source of the explosion.

Police found traces of explosive compounds at the scene.

Farouk said the waiter suffered severe injuries to his body and hands. He was taken to Hospital Ampang by members of the public but was pronounced dead at about 9.45pm.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
