KUALA LUMPUR:
The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre of the irrigation and drainage department (DID) today issued an early alert over the possibility of flash floods within 24 hours in six states.

In Johor, the areas at risk are the Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi, Muar and Pontian districts.

In Melaka, the hotspots are the Melaka Tengah and Jasin districts.

In Pahang, it involves three districts — Temerloh, Bera and Maran.

In Selangor, areas at risk are Klang, Petaling and Kuala Selangor.

In Negeri Sembilan, it involves Jelebu, Jempol and Tampin.

In Sarawak, the hotspots cover the Kuching and Samarahan divisions.

According to DID, the notice was based on the meteorological department’s rain forecast issued at 4pm and its own flood forecast model that showed the possibility of flash floods in case of heavy rain.
