Shahidan, while ending his debate on the supply bill said: “I am disappointed with Hulu Langat (Sany), whose attitude (in the Dewan Rakyat) is even worse than a monkey.”
This prompted the Amanah MP to ask Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul to order Shahidan to retract his remark.
“Arau, as a senior (MP), you should set a good example. Ask him to retract his statement,” Sany demanded.
Misbahul Munir Masduki (PN-Parit Buntar) came to Shahidan’s defence and said it was Sany’s attitude that was problematic.
The two then argued, with Misbahul repeatedly accusing Sany of not behaving properly.
Johari then stepped in and asked whether Shahidan had indeed called Sani a “monkey”.
“No, I merely said don’t behave like a monkey in the jungle. That is allowed (in Parliament),” Shahidan replied.
Johari did not take any further action and the lower house then resumed with Wetrom Bahanda (KDM- Kota Marudu) debating the supply bill.
