The former transport minister lodged the report at the Cheras police station yesterday against Deepak Jaikishan.
Wee had previously challenged Deepak to lodge a police report after the latter denied calling him twice on March 13. However, the businessman had not done so.
“Since he (Deepak) had failed to do so, I lodged a police report as I had promised before,” the MCA president said in a Facebook post.
Wee, Deepak and J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd, the company importing eggs, have been embroiled in a controversy over the import of eggs.
The former minister previously claimed that Deepak had used the name of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a phone call asking him to retract the comments he made in the Dewan Rakyat on the import of eggs from India.
Malaysiakini, however, reported that Deepak denied calling Wee and said he did not have the latter’s phone number.
Wee said today he hoped that no one would use the PMO’s name to intimidate an MP who has immunity to speak in the Dewan Rakyat.
“Any form of abuse of the PMO’s name is much regretted. I will let the police investigate this matter.”
Wee has been issued with two letters of demand by J&E Advance Tech which claimed that the MP’s allegations had indirectly affected their business and created doubt among consumers.
The company is said to be the sole importer of eggs from India.
