KUALA TERENGGANU:
Construction of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Terengganu has reached 55.21%, said Malaysia Railway Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) chief executive officer Darwis Abdul Razak.

Darwis said construction of the 275km alignment in the state is on schedule and expected to be fully completed by December 2026.

The construction involves six stations – at Jerteh, Bandar Permaisuri, Kuala Terengganu and Kemasik, which will be for passengers, as well as Dungun and Chukai, for passengers and cargo.

“Construction work for the entire 665km ECRL line from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, to Port Klang, Selangor, is at 40.81%.

“The 275km route in Terengganu is the longest compared to the other three states of Kelantan, Pahang and Selangor,” he told reporters at the Iftar (breaking of fast) with ECRL here last night.
