Deputy public prosecutor Noor Aslinda Che Seman confirmed that the letter was submitted this morning to sessions court judge Priscilla Nadarajan, the New Straits Times reported.
Counsel M Pravin, who represents Rizal, said the second letter was submitted following new developments in the case.
The lawyer had requested the court to vacate the trial dates on April 14, May 2 to 3 as well as May 22, until the matters raised in the second letter were resolved.
Pravin told the court that he would also submit an application next week to obtain Rizal’s passport as his client would be performing his umrah from May 15 to 29.
Priscilla said the prosecution must update the court on the outcome of the second representation by May 31.
The June 1 and June 2 trial dates, which were fixed earlier, remain unchanged.
Rizal’s first representation to the AGC was rejected on Dec 12 last year.
He is accused of uploading videos on three different social media platforms, where his remarks had allegedly insulted religious and racial sensitivities between July 4 and 6 last year.
The comedian was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
It carries a maximum sentence of one-year imprisonment or RM50,000 fine or both upon conviction.
