PETALING JAYA:
Sabah is a reflection of the original idea of Malaysia where people of different races and religions are united, says state finance minister Masidi Manjun.

“Race and religion do not divide us. Many of our families, mine included, have different faiths and we can all celebrate that,” said Masidi, according to a Daily Express report.

“When Malaysia was formed, the idea was to unite everyone. Sadly, this is no easy feat outside of Sabah or Sarawak.”

The Karanaan assemblyman said Sabahans were tolerant, which was important for the country to prosper, on top of the meritocracy it practised.

“A good government is one that practises meritocracy. The best worker will earn what he or she deserves.

“Our economy is strengthened by ensuring equal opportunities regardless of race or religion,” he said.
