The aircraft was produced by the Government Aircraft Factories (GAF) of Australia.
The Australian Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) decided to allow for the release of the report yesterday, according to lawyers representing former Sabah chief minister Harris Salleh, the Malay Mail reported.
Harris had filed a lawsuit for the report to be declassified.
Earlier this month, Putrajaya agreed to declassify the report which had been placed under the Official Secrets Act.
According to the report, the pilot had a history of poor performance in flying and the aircraft was overloaded in the aft section.
The incident, better known as the “Double Six tragedy”, also claimed the lives of state ministers Salleh Sulong, Chong Thien Vun and Peter Mojuntin after the GAF Nomad aircraft they were in crashed in Sembulan, Kota Kinabalu.
Following the incident, the Australian GAF Nomad manufacturer and the Australian Department of Transport launched an investigation to prove that the crash was not due to mechanical issues.
