IPOH:
A teenager with disabilities (OKU) who went missing on Monday was found dead in a drain along Jalan Persiaran Kerian Permai, Parit Buntar, yesterday.

Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said the victim’s body was found at 5.45pm.

This followed a police report by the victim’s father, aged 41, on his missing son at the Parit Buntar police station earlier at 2.06pm yesterday.

Preliminary investigations found that the 19-year-old had gone with a male cousin to his friend’s house in Taman Kerian Permai at around 10.30pm on Monday night.

The teenager later headed home with his friend and cousin.

Yusri said the teenager suddenly abandoned the motorcycle he was riding and ran towards Persiaran Jalan Permai, apparently in fear.

“He ran so fast that his friend and cousin failed to catch up with him or find him. The victim’s father also went in search of him and turned to the police for help.”

Yusri said police investigations at the scene found no signs of foul play.

He said some specimens had been sent to the chemistry department in Ipoh to help in the investigation. The death has been classified as a sudden death.

“We ask the public not to make any speculations. Any information they have can be channelled to the nearest police station,” Yusri said.
