Selangor Umno Youth chief Imran Tamrin said while Noh had contributed to the party during his time, it was Umno that had provided him the platform to succeed as a leader.
Noh, who had been with Umno for 30 years, was dropped as the Barisan Nasional candidate in his constituency of Tanjong Karang, to make way for divisional Wanita Umno chief Habibah Yusof.
At the general election in November, Habibah lost to Perikatan Nasional candidate Zulkafperi Hanapi.
Noh was later sacked from Umno for breaching party discipline. He confirmed on April 30 that he will contest a state seat as a PN candidate.
Imran said Noh’s sacking from Umno did not affect the party’s machinery in Selangor.
“In Tanjong Karang (Noh’s former constituency) itself, there has been no impact on the Youth, Wanita and Puteri divisions,” he told FMT.
He also said Umno was now more mature in assessing its political partners, having previously been in government with PN, forming the Muafakat Nasional alliance with PAS in 2019, and currently being a part of the unity government with Pakatan Harapan.
Elections to the state assemblies of PH-controlled Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang as well as PAS-led Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah are expected to be held after July.
