KUALA LUMPUR:
The Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation (Bioeconomy Corp) has appointed Dr Lee Boon Chye as its new non-executive chairman, effective July 11.

It said the former deputy health minister had assumed the post  vacated by Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, who retired on Dec 16, 2022.

Lee has a vast and notable experience primarily in the medical sector, and is currently a resident consultant physician and cardiologist at KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital, it said in a statement today.

He served as deputy health minister in the former Pakatan Harapan administration from May 2018 to February 2020.

Lee, from PKR, was also a three-term Gopeng MP, from March 2008 to November 2022.

“With his expertise and leadership, the organisation is poised to strengthen its commitment to advance biotechnology and bio-based industries that harmonise economic growth, social well-being and environmental sustainability in Malaysia,” Bioeconomy Corp said.
