
JPJ said that the registration plate M1M fetched the highest bid at RM622,000, followed by M5M at RM500,000, Bernama reported.
M8M secured the third-highest bid at RM450,000, followed by M9M (RM402,004) and M6M (RM350,000).
“The ‘M_M’ series has received an outstanding response from bidders,” JPJ said in a statement.
It added that 25,033 individuals participated in the bidding for this series, with 6,872 individuals successfully winning bids for their respective registration numbers.
JPJ also noted the numbers which received the most number of bids. They are M101M with 39 bids, M155M (33), M51M (32), M313M (31), and M39M (28).
The bidding ran from Aug 31 to Sept 4 after the sale was launched on Aug 29 by transport minister Loke Siew Fook. Successful bidders were notified on Sept 5.
Loke was reported to have said that the “M_M” series reflected both the phrases “Malaysia Merdeka” and “Malaysia Madani”.
