The memorial is being organised by Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia (SABM), the NGO Haris co-founded.
“It is only appropriate, for one who loved this country so dearly, that this Hari Malaysia, we remember and honour Brother Haris Ibrahim,” said SABM.
The memorial will be held at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall from 10am to 1pm.
Those keen on attending may register here.
The memorial will also be live-streamed. Details will be made available on SABM’s social media pages before Sept 16.
Haris, who had been battling cancer for over a year, died on Aug 5. He was 64.
As a lawyer, he was involved in many cases that dealt with freedom of religion and the jurisdiction of the civil and shariah courts.
Haris, who founded the Asalkan Bukan Umno (Anything But Umno) movement, was also among those at the forefront of calls for a just and equal society.
