PETALING JAYA:
Another victim buried alive after a building under construction collapsed at a resort on Pulau Perhentian succumbed to his injuries early this morning.

The victim, identified as Bahul Jamil, 42, an Indonesian, was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, at 2.14am.

Besut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the cause of the victim’s death was severe injuries to various parts of his body, Bernama reported.

The victim was found under the rubble at 1.18pm on Thursday. He had been trapped for about eight hours after the incident at 4.30am.

Bahul’s death brings the death toll due to the incident to two.

The body of the first victim, identified as Suparno, 40, was found at 2.15pm on Friday.

The Terengganu fire and rescue department had earlier said that four Myanmar workers were buried underneath the rubble of the building. Another four were injured.

The Besut district council said the three-storey building was constructed illegally.
