“He was not killed where the body was found . He was killed elsewhere and his body dumped near the river,” he told reporters here this evening.
Zayn’s body was discovered near a river, just 200m from his apartment in Damansara Damai here.
He had been reported missing on Tuesday.
Shuhaily also said the individual or individuals involved in the murder had been familiar with the area where Zayn’s body was dumped.
“The site is rarely used as a passageway,” he said.
He said it was possible the individual or individuals lived within the vicinity.
He urged those with information to assist the police with the investigation.
Earlier today, the case was reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder after a post-mortem revealed injuries to the boy’s neck and body. Shuhaily said the cause of death could likely be strangulation, and there were also defensive wounds.
Zayn, who was autistic, was laid to rest at the Muslim cemetery in Seksyen 9, Kota Damansara, at 7pm today.
About 200 family members and friends, as well as Petaling Jaya police chief Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, attended the funeral.
