The letter from Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that Isham’s membership was terminated with immediate effect on Dec 6 following an Umno Supreme Council meeting that day.
“You are expelled from the party immediately under Article 10.6 read together with Article 5.9 of the Umno Constitution due to your actions, which have violated the Umno Member’s Code of Ethics,” Asyraf said.
The letter said Isham had been disloyal, failed to obey orders and directives, or respect party decisions.
In response, Isham said he would not appeal the decision.
“It is pointless for me to appeal because the decision has been made by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi without going through the disciplinary board,” he said.
Isham’s sacking came in the wake of his criticism of the party, citing Umno’s continued cooperation with DAP. There were also claims that he had not attended several Supreme Council meetings.
Isham had also challenged Zahid, whom he once strongly supported, to a debate.
