Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn has been appointed the new CEO of EPF.

Zulqarnain was formerly the group CEO of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), the country’s largest asset manager, a post he was appointed to in July 2020.

He takes over as EPF CEO from Amir Hamzah Azizan, who was appointed second finance minister in December.

According to EPF, Zulqarnain had also served as the CEO of Danajamin Nasional Bhd and deputy managing director of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

He also holds an economics degree from Harvard University.

“The EPF board extends their heartfelt gratitude to Amir for his exemplary service to EPF as well as significant contributions and achievements, which have positioned EPF for continued success.

“At the same time, we would like to welcome and congratulate Zulqarnain on his appointment as the new EPF CEO. With his extensive corporate experience, we are looking forward to his dynamic and focussed leadership to drive EPF to greater heights,” said EPF chairman Ahmad Badri Zahir.
