Clam hunter found dead ‘after croc attack’

A 57-year-old man reported missing after searching for clams has been found dead and is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile in Kalabakan, near here.

Asmadi Harun had gone out in the Kalabakan river with two of his family members yesterday and went missing.

“Early this morning, villagers searched for the victim with three boats along Sungai Ulu Kalabakan,” Tawau fire and rescue station chief Jemishin Ujin said in a statement.

Asmadi’s body was found at 4.30am, about 500m from where he was last seen. Jemishin said Asmadi was believed to have been attacked by a crocodile.
