PETALING JAYA:
The 15-vehicle accident on the Federal Highway yesterday afternoon was caused by a garbage disposal truck that experienced brake failure.

Klang Utara police chief S Vijaya Rao said this caused the truck to crash into the 14 vehicles that stopped at the Federal Highway-Shapadu Highway traffic light, Bernama reported.

Neither the 41-year-old lorry driver nor the victims involved suffered any injuries in the 1.30pm incident, which saw all of them lodging police reports.

“The lorry driver was then ordered to undergo a urine screening test and was confirmed to be free of prohibited substances,” Vijaya said, adding that the truck would be sent to Puspakom for an inspection.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

The accident near i-City yesterday caused a traffic jam for those heading from UiTM Shah Alam towards Klang, blocking the left and middle lanes of the Federal Highway.
