Fahmi Fadzil said Pakatan Harapan is not concerned over the possibility of an election petition against the coalition in the recent Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

PETALING JAYA:
Pakatan Harapan is unfazed by the opposition’s plan to file an election petition to challenge its victory in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election earlier this month.

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said Perikatan Nasional could “go ahead” and seek legal redress.

“(But they must) find the evidence,” he said when speaking to reporters.

Yesterday, PN information chief Azmin Ali revealed that its chairman Muhyiddin Yassin instructed their lawyers to gather evidence for an election petition.

Azmin added that 16 district polling centre chiefs were helping to collect data for review by the coalition’s legal team.

Previously, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan was reported to have said PN would file an election petition if PH won the by-election, accusing PH of abusing government machinery before and during the election campaign.

PH leaders have since denied the allegation, insisting they had adhered to election laws.

In the May 11 by-election, Pang Sock Tao of DAP retained the seat for PH in a four-cornered fight, beating PN’s Khairul Azhari Saut with a majority of 3,869 votes.

Separately, Fahmi, who is also the government’s spokesman, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had instructed the police to carry out their job, when asked if the Cabinet meeting today had discussed the threats against a PH MP.

On Sunday, DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok received a death threat in a letter sent to her house along with two bullets.
