PETALING JAYA:
Lee Zii Jia has given Anthony Sinisuka Ginting a walkover into the round of 16 at the Singapore Open 2024.

In a statement, his team said that following a medical assessment in Singapore, Zii Jia had been advised not to participate due to hamstring injuries sustained during the Thailand Open and Malaysia Masters.

“Focus for Zii Jia’s programme now will shift towards rehabilitation,” it said.

Malaysian badminton supporters at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil were left heartbroken on Sunday after Zii Jia lost the singles final in the 2024 Malaysia Masters.

He lost to world No. 1 and top seed Viktor Axelsen 6-21, 22-20, 13-21 in 62 minutes.

It was his sixth loss against Axelsen in nine meetings in a Badminton World Federation ranking tournament.

Zii Jia also endured a bruising quarter-final match against Dane Anders Antonsen on Friday and Angus Ng from Hong Kong in the semi-final the next day.
