PETALING JAYA:
The mother of autistic six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who was found dead near his home in December, was brought to the Petaling Jaya sessions court this morning.

Ismanira Abdul Manaf, who is under police remand until tomorrow, arrived at the court complex at around 10.30am, entering through the basement.

Zayn’s father, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, is also under remand but was not brought to court.

Zaim’s father, Zahari Reba, and several others believed to be Ismanira’s relatives arrived at the court complex later.

As of press time, there were no details from the authorities regarding the court proceedings.

The couple’s lawyer, Fahmi Moin, said he could not divulge any details until after the proceedings ended.

“I cannot provide any statement until it’s over. I was made to understand that my client has arrived and I was told at 9am this morning to come to court,” he told reporters here.

Zayn was reported missing in Damansara Damai on Dec 5 last year. He was found dead the next day about 200m from his apartment block. The post-mortem revealed multiple injuries, including defensive wounds, while the cause of death was believed to be strangulation.

Zaim and Ismanira were arrested and remanded from June 1 to assist in the murder probe under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
