PETALING JAYA:
No casualties were reported in the fire that broke out at the SkyAvenue Complex at Genting Highlands this evening.

Genting Malaysia Bhd said all visitors were safely evacuated.

“The fire was extinguished at approximately 7.15pm and the Pahang fire and rescue department has given clearance to reopen SkyAvenue,” it said in a statement.

Genting said the majority of the outlets at SkyAvenue will remain open, except for a few in the vicinity of the affected area, which will be temporarily closed.

It said the “Best of Chen Lei Hits 2024” concert at the Arena of Stars will proceed as scheduled.

“Our theme parks, Genting SkyWorlds and Skytropolis, along with other attractions, are unaffected and will operate as normal,” it said.

Earlier, Genting said the fire broke out at 4.30pm.

The Star, quoting a spokesman from the Pahang fire and rescue department, reported that the fire broke out on the second floor of the building, before spreading to the fourth floor.

The spokesman said 21 personnel were deployed from the fire stations at Genting, Bentong and Janda Baik to the scene.
