
Kangar police deputy chief Baeyah Abdul Wahab said in the 3am incident, the woman, who was five months pregnant, suffered a miscarriage.
He added that Nuraleya Syazreena Roslan Anuar, 18, also suffered a hip fracture and a head injury, while her husband, Danish Hakim Hanizam, 18, sustained a fracture on his right thigh, Bernama reported.
“The incident happened when the couple was travelling to their home in Kampung Sungai Bugis from a restaurant in Sungai Baru, Simpang Empat.
“When they arrived at the location of the incident, an uprooted tree fell on their motorcycle. This happened during an early morning storm,” he said in a statement.
According to Baeyah, both victims were taken to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar for further treatment.
Meanwhile, Perlis Malaysian Civil Defence Force director Izaimi Daud said there were 31 cases of fallen trees in the state as of 10am today, caused by the storm which started at about 2am.
