PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested two civil servants in Kelantan on suspicion of accepting a bribe of RM10,000 to release machinery which had been confiscated.

Bernama quoted an MACC source as saying the two men were an officer and an assistant under a state government agency in Tanah Merah.

The source said MACC received a complaint from a man in his 60s several days ago.

The man claimed he gave RM10,000 to the suspects earlier this month to get the state agency to release forestry machinery it had seized earlier.

“Both suspects, aged 33 and 49, were arrested at the Kelantan MACC headquarters at 4.30pm today after giving their statements,” the source said.

Kelantan MACC director Rosli Husain confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

He said the suspects will be brought to the Kota Bharu magistrates’ court tomorrow to be remanded.
