National mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei smashed their way to victory in the 2024 Korea Open final by defeating China’s Guo Xin Wa-Li Qian 17-21, 21-13, 21-13 in Seoul, this morning.

The Malaysian world No 7 pair took 59 minutes to dispose of the unranked scratch Chinese pair.

In the second game, Tang Jie-Ee Wei took an early lead and were able to hold their ground to lead 11-6 at the break. Following the restart, they extended their lead and had a 10-game point cushion before winning the match 21-13 in 16 minutes.

In the rubber game, Tang Jie-Ee Wei took a 3-0 lead and despite an initial comeback by the Chinese, they held on to lead 11-6 going into the break.

The Chinese continued to narrow the score to 13-15 after the restart, but the Malaysians took every point from then on to win the game 21-13 in 23 minutes for their first title of the year.
