The Kepong MP lodged the report at the Jinjang police station this morning.
Tuan Ibrahim was reported to have said at the party’s muktamar yesterday that if the Chinese and Indians conversed in their mother tongues, it would cause distrust in the Malay community.
Lim said such remarks were not only incorrect but potentially divisive, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported.
“Therefore, the authorities must probe whether Tuan Ibrahim breached the country’s laws,” he was quoted as saying.
Lim went on to note that inciting tension and stirring up racial sentiments was against the law, noting that Sections 504 and 505(c) of the Penal Code had addressed such matters.
“As a country that values unity, we cannot tolerate any form of racism.
“I call on the enforcement agencies to take immediate action to prevent the escalation of racial tensions and to uphold Malaysia’s harmony,” Lim said.
