While the Johor and federal governments have resolved the flooding in most parts of Mahkota, Syed Hussien said some areas still faced frequent deluge, Bernama reported.
“There’s no denying that whenever there is a continuous downpour, certain places will be hit (by floods). This issue is a crucial matter that must be resolved.
“To sort this problem out, we will take this matter to a higher level,” he was quoted as saying, without elaborating what this “higher level” would involve.
Flash floods are among the key issues that have reportedly been raised by Mahkota voters.
Johor police chief M Kumar said yesterday the police were ready to deploy boats and lorries should flash floods occur during the Sept 28 by-election.
The by-election will see a straight fight between Syed Hussien and Perikatan Nasional’s Haizan Jaafar.
The by-election was called following the death of Umno assemblyman Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain on Aug 2. She had won the seat during the 2022 state election with a 5,166-vote majority.
