PETALING JAYA:
Police have rescued a total of 34 children and arrested 17 adults in raids on the homes of members of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings in Melaka today.

Raids this morning led to the rescue of 19 children and the arrest of 11 people at a residence suspected to belong to a GISBH member in Kuala Sungai Baru, Alor Gajah.

In the afternoon, 15 children were rescued and six adults arrested in raids on two houses in Taman Ayer Molek Perdana, Masjid Tanah, and a shipyard in Kampung Nelayan, Kuala Linggi.

Melaka police also raided welfare homes, restaurants and mini markets linked to GISBH, while raids were also conducted on three homes in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, and a business centre in Rawang, Selangor, this morning.

On Sept 11, police rescued 402 children from 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan which the authorities had linked to GISBH. They also arrested 171 people, including an ustaz and a hostel warden.

According to the police, investigations showed that at least 13 of the children were sodomised or taught to sexually assault others.
