PETALING JAYA:
Thirty-one residents at Kampung Sungai Ruil in Cameron Highlands have been evacuated after their homes were hit by floods and landslides yesterday evening.

The victims from five families were relocated to a shelter after the flash floods and landslides occurred at about 6pm, Sinar Harian reported.

A spokesman for the district disaster management committee said heavy rain turned a nearby river into a surging torrent and rendered soil in several areas unstable.

“Clean-up works are ongoing to ensure it is safe for the families to return home,” he said.
