Kota Setar police chief Siti Nor Salawati Saad said they received two reports about the incident from two men, aged 48 and 54, Utusan Malaysia reported.
She said the incident occurred at 11.50pm yesterday.
“Based on the video clip, several people are believed to be involved in the quarrel, one of whom was seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle,” she was quoted as saying.
She said police are investigating the matter for assault and provocation.
In the clip, lasting 1 minute and 20 seconds, several individuals were seen expressing their dissatisfaction with a man they claimed was Sanusi’s aide.
They had accused the aide of allegedly assaulting a trader at the night market on Jalan Pegawai. The man denied the allegation.
Another man then threatened to report the matter to the police.
Nor Salawati said statements had been taken from two people, including the man believed to be the menteri besar’s aide.
“We advise the public against speculating about the case. We also urge those with information to come forward,” she said.
