His lawyer, Rafique Rashid Ali, confirmed the arrest and said he is being investigated by Bukit Aman for alleged cheating and for breaching the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Amla).
He also said Wan Azri is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, which provides for up to 10 years in prison, whipping and a fine, upon conviction.

Rafique said eight police officers went to arrest Wan Azri at his house at about 1.30am.
“Police obtained a one-day remand order to facilitate the probe,” he said.
