Zaliha told FMT that firm action would be taken if any breach of governance was found.
“I want to make it clear that I will not compromise on any misconduct, especially if it involves agencies under the federal territories department,” she said.
Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur mayor Maimunah Sharif said DBKL was probing allegations that the board member was involved in the award of a RM4 million project without an open tender.
Maimunah also said she had cancelled a RM7 million project linked to the same board member upon assuming office last year.
The controversy centres on a social media post which alleged that a RM4 million DBKL publishing project was awarded to a company owned by the board member’s associate without going through the proper tender process.
The post claimed that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his political secretary, Azman Abidin, were aware of the projects that the board member had applied for — which compelled DBKL’s directors to fast-track approvals.
Azman, however, said his name had been misused in the post and that political figures were often easy targets for such false claims.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday also announced its readiness to assist DBKL in investigating the alleged misconduct.
Zaliha today said full cooperation would be given should any enforcement agency initiate an investigation into the matter.
FMT has also reached out to the advisory board member in question for comment.
