PETALING JAYA:
Police are investigating an incident at the i-City theme park in Shah Alam, where a float from the SkyCity Tower glass water slide dislodged and fell on a visitor.

Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred at about 11pm on Wednesday while the victim, a woman in her 20s, and her family were visiting the theme park.

“The victim was walking underneath the glass water slide when the float suddenly fell and struck her body. She was taken to a clinic and checked for any injury.

“Fortunately, she did not suffer any serious injuries,” he said in a statement.

According to Iqbal, an initial investigation showed that the Shah Alam City Council had issued i-City a compound on Nov 14, 2024, for building the theme park without written approval from the council.

He said the probe into the incident was being carried out under Section 6 of the Selangor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995 for operating without a licence, which is punishable by a maximum RM25,000 fine or up to three years in prison, if convicted.

Iqbal added that the case is also being probed under Section 337 of the Penal Code for causing hurt by an act which endangers the life or personal safety of others, which can be punished by up to six months in prison or a maximum RM1,000 fine, upon conviction.
