PETALING JAYA:
Police have confirmed summoning 13 university students involved in the anti-corruption rally on Jan 25 for their statements.

Dang Wangi police chief Sulizmie Affendi Sulaiman told FMT that the students are being investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

This evening, Malaysiakini reported rally organiser mobilisation coordinator Tobey Qi-Sean as saying he received a call from the police in the afternoon.

“A list of 13 students’ names was given and we are required to give statements at the Dang Wangi police headquarters this Sunday at 1pm,” he said.

Qi-Sean said two of the students are from Universiti Malaysia Sabah and will provide their statements at the Kepayan police headquarters in Kota Kinabalu on Feb 7.

“Of the 13, four were attendees, while the remaining were part of the organising committee. All four attendees also gave speeches during the rally,” he said.

The Jan 25 rally saw over 200 protesters, mostly university students, turning up outside the Sogo shopping complex.

Youth wings from parties like PAS, Bersatu and PKR were also present, though they refrained from displaying their logos.
